Movies and shows we should watch
š¬ RVs on Screen: When Movies & TV Nail the RV Life
One of my favorite things about being in the RV world is seeing how movies and TV shows try to capture it. Sometimes they get it hilariously wrong⦠and other times they absolutely nail the feeling of life on the road.
Here are a few that stick with meāand why they matter if youāve ever chased the RV dream yourself:
š The Long, Long Trailer
A classic! Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz pull off a comedy thatās still relatable today. The backing up, the tight turns, the āwe can totally fit this thing thereā⦠itās all part of RV life. Itās goofy, but every seasoned RVer sees themselves in at least one scene.
š RV (with Robin Williams)
Sure, itās over the top at times, but thereās a surprisingly wholesome message buried in all the chaos: family, togetherness, and laughing through the mishaps. Anyone whoās had any kind of challenge dumping their tanks will get a kick out of it.
𤣠Weāre the Millers
Not exactly a howāto guide, but definitely funny. The RV is a prop for a wild story, and even though itās not realistic, thereās something about the way the characters slowly bond on the road that rings true.
⨠Nomadland
Now hereās the one that really hits home. Itās not the shiny Instagram version of van lifeāitās raw, itās real, and itās moving. It shows the challenges, the community, and the quiet moments that make living on wheels feel authentic and human.
šŗ Stick (Series with Owen Wilson)
This one has my attention lately. The campgrounds, the people, the little detailsāthey capture the heart of RV life in a way that makes you want to pack up and go. Watching it feels like sitting by a campfire listening to someone tell stories from the road.
š» And Hereās the Thingā¦
It doesnāt matter if youāre in a millionādollar bus or a $10,000 trailerāthe magic is the same.
Itās the cold beer under the awning.
Itās sharing stories around the campfire at night.
Itās BBQ smoke drifting through the campground, kids riding bikes, neighbors stopping by to say hello.
Thatās loving The RV Monkey dream. šš
